Art I
This class is designed for the High School student taking art for the first time. Students will learn the basics of drawing, painting, ceramics, and commercial art.
Art II
This course is designed as a follow-up to Art I. This one year course has a strong emphasis on drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, composition and commercial art. Content and problem solving skills will be emphasized as students strengthen their skills. Art history and famous artist research papers will also be required.
Art III
This is an advanced course designed for those students with a serious approach to art. This course enables students to improve their skills of observation, drawing, painting, use of color, pottery, and sculpture. Students will complete several long term projects of their choice. Art history and famous artist research papers will also be required.
Art IV
This course is a college preparatory class in Art designed for those students with a serious interest in Art. Students will make in-depth studies into their own particular interests and areas of expertise. Students will be required to create a portfolio containing 10-15 examples of their best work which may be used for the application of Art Scholarships at the college or university level. They will also display their work at the end of the school year in an individual senior Art exhibit.
